Step 1 — Choose the Right Course for Your Role

Kells Safety Centre delivers accredited training across transport safety, dangerous goods, and fatigue management. Before enrolling, confirm which course applies to your role and legal obligations.

Common courses and who needs them:

Not sure which course applies? Contact Kells via the enquiry page and the team will help you confirm the right training for your situation.

Step 2 — Check Course Dates and Locations

Kells Safety Centre runs courses at two NSW locations:

  • Wetherill Park — Western Sydney. Courses run regularly throughout the year.
  • Wollongong / Dapto — Illawarra region. Selected course dates available.

Some courses — including BFM — are available as online courses for participants who prefer self-paced learning with flexible scheduling.

Current course schedules and available dates are listed on the individual course pages. Check the course page for your chosen training to see upcoming dates before registering.

Step 3 — Complete the Enrolment Form

To enrol, you’ll need to complete a registration form. This captures your personal details, the course you’re enrolling in, your preferred date and location, and any pre-existing qualifications or licences.

Enrolment can be completed:

  • Online via the course page — select your course, choose a date, and submit the form
  • By phone — call the Kells Safety Centre team directly to register and ask questions
  • By email — contact details are on the contact page

Group bookings for businesses enrolling multiple staff members can be arranged directly — contact Kells to discuss scheduling and any volume pricing available.

Step 4 — Confirm Your Booking and Pay Course Fees

Once your enrolment form is submitted, Kells will confirm your booking and provide payment details. Course fees vary by training type. Current fees are listed on each course page.

Note: Some courses have additional costs paid to external bodies. For example, the Safe Load Program (SLP) has a separate SLP card fee of $150 payable directly to SLP Administration — this is not paid to Kells.

Payment is generally required prior to course commencement. Kells will advise payment methods and deadlines when your booking is confirmed.

Step 5 — Prepare for the Course

Most Kells courses are face-to-face and require you to attend in person. Here’s what to do before your course date:

  • Confirm the course location (Wetherill Park or Wollongong) and allow travel time
  • Bring a valid photo ID — required for identity verification
  • Bring any specified pre-reading materials or pre-course documentation
  • For DG licence courses — bring your current driver licence
  • Wear appropriate clothing for a training environment (closed-toe shoes recommended)
  • Arrive on time — courses start promptly and latecomers may not be admitted

For online courses, you’ll receive login credentials and course access instructions after enrolment. Online training can be completed at your own pace before any scheduled face-to-face components.

Step 6 — Complete Training and Assessment

Kells Safety Centre courses include both knowledge (written) and skills (practical) assessment components. Assessments are conducted by qualified assessors throughout and at the end of each course.

If you don’t achieve competency on a first attempt, you may be given the opportunity to reassess specific units. Kells trainers will advise you during the course if additional practice or support is needed.

Step 7 — Receive Your Statement of Attainment

On successful completion, you’ll receive a Statement of Attainment issued by Kells Safety Centre (RTO 91528). This is the nationally recognised qualification document confirming you have completed the relevant units of competency.

For the Dangerous Goods Licence course, your Statement of Attainment is then submitted to the NSW EPA as part of the licence application process. The EPA issues the actual DG driver licence — this is separate from the RTO qualification.

For BFM and Schedulers Fatigue courses, your Statement of Attainment is your evidence of NHVR-compliant training. Keep a copy with your employment records.
